We are very excited to announce that the State 4-H Horse Show will proceed at the Brazos County Expo July 19-24! Entries will be open on 4-H Connect June 4th to July 1st. Social distancing requirements have led us to some necessary modifications, but we are looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating the progress of our youth in the 4-H Horse Project. Below you will find information about show modifications, schedule, validation refund requests, sponsorship needs, and a new program we’ve started on social media called Judging in June.
Show modifications to expect
We anticipate that this list will grow as we delve into planning and as mandates change over the coming weeks. Below are the modifications that have been made thus far:
- Due to the cancellation of some district shows, the district show qualification for the State 4-H Horse Show has been waived for this year. Any 4-H youth with a validated horse can enter the state 4-H horse show this year.
- Due to social distancing mandates, there will not be a trade show, nor dance at the show this year.
- Gates will not be used as obstacles in Trail, Stock horse Trail, or Hunt Seat Versatility this year.
Show Schedule
A tentative show schedule is available below. Please note that we may need to adjust slightly to meet facility capacity mandates depending on show entries. Any necessary changes to the schedule will be communicated.
Rules
You can find the current rules at horse.tamu.edu or by clicking the rulebook image below. All changes to the rulebook are designated in red text. All exhibitors are encouraged to review the rules carefully before competition.
Validation Refunds
Exhibitors who would like to request a validation refund may do so using the link below. Refunded validations will make that horse ineligible to be shown at the district and/or state 4-H horse shows this year. Refund requests MUST be submitted within 100 days of the invoice date on 4-H connect. Those families that validated early in March will be quickly approaching this deadline so please encourage them to submit their requests quickly. The validation refund request deadline is July 1st.

Judging in June |
Join us on social media for Judging in June! We will post a video class of 4 horses each Monday from June 1st through June 22nd. Youth 18 and under can record a video of themselves giving a set of reasons on the class, then submit that video. Check out our Facebook page “Texas Horse” for more details.
